Facebook is constantly throttling my posts, restricting my content and otherwise censoring my posts. I just wanted to start documenting it and pointing out every time that it happens. Feel free to share your comments or experiences below and if you want to upload and share a screen capture I will be happy to add it to the list of videos that will eventually make up the rest of this blog post.

Wow, if this is true (which with Facebook’s track record I believe it is), that level of censorship is disturbing. Orwell came and went guys, and this stuff is happening despite his warnings. Scary.

This hasn’t happened to me, though I’m a bit ashamed to admit that I keep my libertarian views to myself–it actually is a strong possibility that I could be blacklisted for it in my future career if I make it known that I disagree with the politically approved opinion, considering I’m trying to get into the entertainment industry. The moment I state my views philosophically on anything I’m pretty much personally attacked by everyone in the room…lol. Which is interesting considering Libertarianism only means adherence to the non-aggression principle and respect for property rights. Not sure why that rubs people so badly…

It’s very conflicting, since this is a *extremely* important time in America’s history…standing up for truth has always been hard, and pretty much has always been violently rejected by everyone at first.

Libertarianism hasn’t been needed this badly since the Constitution was written. Unfortunately you and I don’t have the “right” opinions about things, so we are ostracized. If only we were as open-minded as the wonderful Facebook staff…

      Ashley,

This is for real and it happens to me almost daily. Mostly on political posts but every so often on unrelated issues.

It is sad that you would even have to consider censoring yourself but I totally understand what you are saying. I am well past that point though and it is just really frustrating to have things like this happen on a network that is supposed to be about staying connected.

I know people who have liked my posts, and even selected to follow me and then still do not see the things I post.

I used to get hundreds of views from Facebook each day, sometimes thousands and now I am lucky to get 6-7 maybe 30 on a good day.

When something goes viral then it is a little different because it is harder for them to slow that down but it becomes infinitely more difficult to actually go viral since they affect the early stages of article distribution.

I agree with you, we are definitely not in the populist agenda but it is important that we speak up and I for one will keep shouting until I can shout no longer. If anything these things inspire me to push harder and double my efforts to get my message across through other channels.

Anyway, thanks for reading and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Wondering where you got the property rights where you live? Pretty sure that all property in the USA was stolen by aggression! But you might live by an amended version of your original post? Because that is the main point of libertarianism!😱

  1. […] The next day that video did more than 80,000 views. That Sunday it did 221,505 page views and another 77,007 the day after that. Then Facebook shut down the link. This was the first, but not the last time, that Facebook throttled my content. […]
