WordPress is the world’s most popular content management system and allows me to share my thoughts and ideas with the world. It has given me a unique advantage by allowing me to easily create content online, and serves as home base for all of my digital operations. It’s an invaluable skill to learn, and can open huge doors for your career, even as a non-developer.
Evernote is my top pick from a productivity perspective because of how it lets me store, share, and manipulate my ideas. I can take pictures, clip content from the web and otherwise organize everything I interact with digitally. Their web clipper and suite of apps allows me to extend my brain in a beautifully efficient way.

MailChimp is an industry leading email marketing tool. It allows me to collect email addresses from anywhere across the web, add those emails to segmented lists, and then easily communicate with those people effectively. Whether I am sending out single campaigns or setting up automated workflows, MailChimp is my email marketing tool of choice.
All of our video content here on Raymmar.com is edited using Final Cut Pro. It’s an intuitive video editor which in my opinion is easier to use than some of the competitors in the space. It allows for professional grade video editing with a consumer friendly interface and user experience.
While we use Final Cut Pro to edit our video content, I use Photoshop and Illustrator to create the visual assets we use in those videos, or for any other static design needs. With more software than you could ever hope to learn, the Adobe Creative Cloud is a must have for any modern creative professional.
Slack is an easy to use chat application that has completely replaced our internal email communication workflow. I use it to manage team communications as well as to interact with clients/volunteers. The tool is free to use for small teams, approved non profit organizations, and offers affordable monthly plans for professional use.
OptinMonster is a tool that I use in conjunction with WordPress and MailChimp to convert website traffic into tangible leads or email subscribers. OptinMonster allows me to create dynamic and interactive lead capture forms that I can sprinkle throughout my website. This allows me to spend more time telling stories as opposed to building web forms.
Dropbox is a file sharing application we use to transfer and store documents internally. Dropbox syncs with your native file structure so you can save files as easy as you would on any computer. It also allows you to take those files anywhere you want with their mobile and web applications. Additionally, you can easily share and collaborate on any content in those files which is an integral part of running a successful digital business.
In addition to telling the story, it is important to measure the performance, and track the reach of the content you distribute online. Google Analytics is a free analytics suite which you can integrate into almost any website or web application in order to track user behavior. There are more robust analytics dashboards on the market, but Google Analytics a staple in my marketing arsenal because of the price and simplicity of installation.
Livestream is the newest addition to our online toolset and is quickly becoming one of my favorites. We use their HD550 along with a premium account on their online platform which lets us manage up to 5 HD cameras, 5 audio sources, graphic overlays, and a number of options for remote cameras with unlimited bandwidth and users. It also allows us to stream content to YouTube and Facebook Live simultaneously which is a powerful tool when it comes to building an audience as a storyteller.
WeTransfer is an easy to use application for transferring large files. Sometimes sending large files can be difficult, and maybe you don’t want to give full access to a Dropbox account. With WeTransfer, all you do is enter the user’s email address and upload the file. The free version of WeTransfer allows you to send files up to 2gb in size while the pro version has no limits.
